**Bhubaneswar:** As many as 96,000 youths have been trained under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kalyan Yojana and employment sources have been created for 70,000 of them. The State Government has set a target to train over two lakh youths over the next two years.
Odisha emerged top State in the country in skill development sector and ORMAS bagged the Prime Minister’s award for this achievement.
The organisations like Escorts, Tata’s Westside, GMR Group, Sahi Exports, KIIT University, Care Hosoital Group, Apollo Hospital and Gram Tarang, have taken a lead in absorbing skilled youths from Odisha. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated the Panchayati Raj Department, ORMAS and other organisations, departments and agencies involved in DDUGKY and making this programme a success.
“It is due to the consistent efforts, ORMAS has achieved one-fifth of the National target. Different organisations and companies are looking forward to employ youths from Odisha. Most importantly, other States have shown interest in imparting skills to their youths in Odisha,” Naveen said.
Panchayati Raj Department Minister Pradip Maharathy hailed the achivements of ORMAS for its consistent success in skill development sector for 2016-17 and 2017-18.
National Rural Livelihoods Mission Director Pranab Jyoti Nath and ORMAS Executive Director BN Das received the award from Union Panchayati Raj Minister Narendra Singh Tomar at the National Ajeevikaevam Kaushal Mela in Jharkhand.
