Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a hike in the monthly remuneration of Gana Sikhyakas in the state on Friday.
As per the notification issued by the government, the salary of Gana Sikhyakas who have not passed the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) has been increased from Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000. This move will benefit as many as 1,121 Gana Sikhyakas across the state.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took the decision to hike the salary of Gana Sikhyakas after the teachers made repeated pleas to V K Pandian, the Chairman of 5-T and Nabin Odisha in this regard.
Also, the CM has decided to regularize the service of Gana Sikhyakas who have passed the OTET as Med Teachers (Ex-cadre). And this move will benefit as many as 1,472 Gana Sikhyakas.
Besides, the government has decided to provide annual increment to Assistant Teachers (Ex Cadre) who have passed OTET. As many as 9,520 assistant teachers (ex-cadre) will be benefitted by this move.
Notably, Gana Sikhyakas have been demanding regularisation and pay hike for the last five years.
