**Bhubaneswar: ** Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated ‘Nirman Kusuma’ programme to facilitate financial assistance to the sons and daughters of construction labourers studying in government ITI and engineering diploma institutions.
Gracing the programme at Jaydev Bhawan here, sons and daughters of above 500 construction labourers were given away the cent percent financial assistance from the State Construction Workers’ Welfare Board for pursuing their technical courses.
Under the ‘Nirman Kusuma’ scheme, Rs 23,600 financial assistance was given to each for pursuing ITI course while Rs 26,300 financial assistance was given to each for pursuing polytechnic and diploma courses.
Thus, Rs 1.09 crore financial assistance to 1,878 beneficiaries was deposited in their respective bank accounts for the 2018-19 academic session.
The Chief Minister also announced on the occasion that the natural death ex gratia amount to each registered construction worker has been enhanced to Rs 2 lakh from Rs 1 lakh while the accidental death ex gratia amount has been enhanced to Rs 4 lakh from Rs 2 lakh.
It was also announced by the Chief Minister that the financial assistance given to the girl children of the registered workers for pursuing education from Class VI to post graduation (PG) and for maintaining health has also been enhanced by 20%.
