Anandpur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the Anandpur Barrage built over the river Baitarini at a cost of Rs 475 crore.
“With this barrage irrigation facility will be available for farming. This barrage will benefit farmers of three blocks of Keonjhar district and seven blocks of Balasore district. I had laid the foundation stone of this barrage in 2009. We believe in the delivery of service to the people. Odisha is marching ahead in different spheres of development,” Patnaik said addressing the gathering.
This barrage is considered as a longtime dream of the people of Anandpur area. The barrage which has a length of 490m has a storage capacity to hold 350 lakh cubic meter water. This barrage will irrigate farmlands in Anandpur, Hatadihi and Ghasipura blocks in Keonjhar district and Khaira, Oupada, Nilgiri, Bahanaga, Balasore Sadar, Remuna and Soro blocks in Balasore district.
Later the Chief Minister took part in the inaugural function of the platinum jubilee celebrations of Balabhadra Narayan High School here.
This apart the Chief Minister inaugurated several projects and laid foundation stones for different projects at a function held at the Mini Stadium here.
