Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik this evening inaugurated Sisir Saras 2020, the national level rural fair organized by Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) under the Department of Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water at the Exhibition Ground here.
The Chief Minister after inaugurating the fair visited stalls put up by Self Help Groups (SHGs) and praised the participants who have come from the State and outside.
As many as 300 numbers of stalls have been opened at the mela.
The fair which is a mini India bazaar with participants from 25 States will be an 11-day affair and conclude on January 14.
The specialty of the fair this year is that for the first time a Facilitation Centre for registration of Udyog Aadhaar (UA) and Government e-Market Place (GeM) has been opened for products manufactured by SHGs producers.
Handicrafts, cottage industries products, and food products are available at the fair. That apart products made in rural areas of all districts of Odisha are available at the fair.
Odisha’s handloom products, different products of cottage industries, tribal products, and forest products are also available here.
A food court with participation of eight States apart from Odisha has been opened at the mela. Delicacies from the States of Bihar, Gujrat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Haryana, Kerala and Odisha is available for the foodies.
Moreover, a fashion showcasing apparels and handicrafts worn in the State and outside will be organized at the fair.
Beyond the marketing scenario, the event will also have cultural events every evening. The cultural events will have soulful Odissi dance, Odia and Hindi melody nights, folk dance and light comedy shows, etc. for entertaining visitors to the fair.
