**Bhubaneswar:** In order to ensure proper implementation of schemes and programmes of the State Government, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has instructed his ministers to carry out field visit of districts.
“The governance our State has been recognised on the national platform and has earned accolades in various sectors as the Chief Minister is monitoring all the works. He has therefore instructed the ministers that besides working on files in the Secretariat they should visit the districts to learn about the ground realities,” said Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera today.
Intention of the Chief Minister is to verify if benefits of his governance are reaching to people or not. He has always instructed all elected representatives and administrative officials to be alert towards it and it is a continuous process. It helps to expedite the delivery of good governance and makes the elected representatives more alert, he added.
In reaction to the CM’s instruction, BJP Spokesperson Golak Mohapatra said, there is nothing new in it. The Chief Minister has been giving such instructions since his party came to power.
“Previously, he had instructed officials to carry out field visits and Secretaries of various departments had been advised to visit districts and each secretary had been assigned a particular district. How many have followed the instruction? Presently, the Chief Minister is saying that ministers will visit the districts but I am not sure who is going to visit or not,” he added.
On the other hand, former Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Jayadev Jena said, “It seems the Chief Minister has perceived his ministers are not connected with the people of the districts. He sensed that it will be a hurdle for him in the upcoming elections and therefore using all possible tactics to garner votes.”
