Odisha CM Lauds SAI International Student Atish Sahoo For Topping KVPY Exams

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has cheered and lauded SAI International School student Atish Kumar Sahoo for being the State topper in Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) examination.

The Chief Minister tweeted:

“Congratulate #Odisha boy Atish Kumar Sahoo on becoming state topper in Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) examination by securing All India Rank of 13. Wish him and all the successful students successful career ahead.”

Fourteen SAIoneers from Class XI and XII have cracked the KVPY examinations with flying colours, the school authorities informed.

“SAIoneer Atish Kumar Sahoo of Class XI, is the State Topper for KVPY 2021, he touched the pinnacle with a record-breaking All India Rank-13. SAIoneer Goutam Das, of Class XII, who had recently topped in JEE Mains in the State, and has done remarkably well by qualifying for KVPY  and stands at AIR 222.”

From Class XII the qualifying students are Sooraj Nanda (AIR 263), Deepak Nanda (AIR 487), Pournava Pratyasa Pradhan (AIR 536), Nekta N Swastisravan Mishra(AIR 828), Ankan Mohapatra (AIR 851), Asish Kumar Panda(1320), Gauri Shankar Swain(AIR 1340), Shree Rath (AIR 1498), Shreemoy Mahapatra (AIR 1644), and N. Anuska (AIR 528). From Class IX we have Soham Pal (AIR 154) and Veda Raju (AIR 648).

Atish’s proud parents Gagan Bihari Sahoo, and mother Geetanjali Sahoo are delighted with his achievement. His father works with a private firm as a Project Manager, and his mother is a housewife. They said Atish is a dedicated student with a high level of concentration.

Currently, he is pursuing his 11th grade and has taken up Maths and Biology. Atish had topped in Maths Olympiad when he was in Grade II and has been receiving scholarship since then.

The KVPY is a National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science.

The prestigious Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) 2020 – as a test attracts exceptional and highly motivated students for pursuing a science career. Qualifying students receive a monthly fellowship of Rs 5000 with an Annual Contingency Grant of Rs 20,000 for 5 years after Std XII.

The examination is conducted with an aptitude test and a round of PI (Personal Interview). Due to the pandemic, the students had been put through the aptitude test for evaluation this time.
