Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana’ for fulfilling the nutritional needs of mothers, adolescent girls and children of the state. In addition to this, the Chief Minister also launched the ‘Pada Pushti Yojana’.
Under this scheme, provision has been made to provide nutritional supplement to all adolescent girls in the age group of 15 to 19 years and additional dry food to pregnant women and expectant mothers. Also, provision has been made to provide complete food to severely malnourished children, vitamin-added ‘chhatua’ (roasted gram flour) and eggs to moderately malnourished children and severely underweight children.
In remote and tribal areas high-quality cooked food will be supplied to children at their enclaves and villages under the ‘Pada Pushti Yojana’
Speaking at a function organised at the Convention Centre in Lok Seva Bhawan, the Chief Minister said that nutrition has a deep relationship with prosperity. Therefore, through improved nutrition we can fulfill our development target, the CM added.
“It is the mother who can provide proper nutrition to the family. Therefore, the success of this programme depends on mothers. Our Anganwadi workers and Mission Shakti members also have a great responsibility for the success of this programme,” the CM stated.
“Odisha is the first state in the country to design a nutrition budget from 2020-21. Mamata Yojana is taking proper care of the health of pregnant women and newborns in the state. Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana will further strengthen this effort”, he added.
The Chief Minister stated that through this scheme, every woman and child of the state can become healthy. This will lead us to prosperity and success in achieving our goals, he added.
The Chief Minister further said that he is confident the Women and Child Development Department will work on the successful implementation of the scheme by involving all at the grassroots level by using the five elements of 5T. Combined efforts of all of us to provide better health and nutrition to people will further advance overall development, he added.
Joining the programme, Women and Child Development Minister Basanti Hembram said, “Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana is our mission. This scheme will improve the lives and future of the people of Odisha”.
In this programme Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian and other senior officers were present.
Development Commissioner Anu Garg said that Odisha is gradually rising in the nutrition index. At the national level Odisha is in a better position in this field, Garg added.
She said that ‘Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana’ is a timely step for bringing transformation in the field of nutrition.
While departmental Commissioner-cum-Secretary Subha Sharma gave the welcome address, Director Lingaraj Panda offered a vote of thanks at the function.
