Sambalpur: Odisha Chief Minster Mohan Majhi on Sunday launched the CM-KISAN Yojana on the occasion of the Nuakhai festival in Sambalpur. The CM-KISAN Yojana aims to support small, nomadic, and landless farming families.
Eligible farmers will receive a total of Rs 4,000 in a year in two installments. The first installment of Rs 2,000 was distributed today on the occasion of Nuakhai and the remaining Rs 2,000 will be given on Akshaya Tritiya.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and local MLAs and departmental Secretaries were present on the occasion. Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida and others jointed the mega event through videoconferencing.
Majhi also launched the Krushak Odisha Unified Portal of the Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department at the Gangadhar Meher University auditorium here.
Landless farmers will be granted Rs 12500 in three installments. However, they will need to register through the CM-KISAN Grievance Portal for inclusion in the scheme. The registration of CM-KISAN in Odisha will continue for the next two months.
Addressing the gathering at the Meher Gangadhar University Auditorium, the Chief Minister said that the state government is always working with the ultimate goal of empowering all the farmers in the state. “The amount of assistance transferred under CM KISAN Yojana will definitely help the farmers to purchase essential agricultural inputs like seeds, fertilizers, pesticides etc. as per their requirement. Altogether 45,57,733 small and nominal farmers and 39,303 landless agricultural families of the state will benefit through the investment of more than Rs 925 crore during the Rabi season.”
This amount of assistance of CM KISAN will be paid in two installments for both Kharif and Rabi seasons totaling Rs 4,000. He said that a scholarship of Rs 2 lakh has been arranged under the Agriculture Vidya Nidhi Yojana for the vocational higher education of the children of all eligible beneficiaries of the CM KISAN Yojana.
The Chief Minister further said that under PM Kisan Yojana, a farmer welfare scheme run by the Central government, Rs 6,000 has been provided annually in three installments for landholding farmers. If the CM KISAN is added to this, the farmer will get Rs 10,000 per year. The beneficiary selection process of this scheme has been extended by two months and special programmes will be held in all the blocks of the state till November 8. During this period, name registration and other essential tasks can be done free of charge by the farmers through Jan Seva Kendras.
Manji said that the state government has introduced the farmer prosperity scheme to compensate the farmers of the state for their loss in paddy cultivation. In this plan, the collection price of paddy has been increased and it will be implemented in a few days. He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to make India a developing nation. That is why the trend of development continues.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is ready to provide all kinds of incentives to the farmers. Cold storages are being constructed in every subdivision of the state to prevent short sale of agricultural produce. He said that after the coming of the double engine government in Odisha, Odisha is moving fast on the path of prosperity.
Earlier in the day, Majhi and Dharmendra Pradhan celebrated Nuakhai at Maa Samaleswari Temple. Majhi arrived in Sambalpur on a two-day visit and offered prayers to the presiding deity. His wife also joined him in the celebration at the temple.
Among others, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Rural Development Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra, IG Police, Collector, and few other officials were present.
