Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday spearheaded the state’s industrial expansion by inaugurating a production unit and performing the groundbreaking ceremony for 13 new projects. With a cumulative investment of ₹5,770 crore, these initiatives are projected to create over 37,030 jobs.
Majhi formally inaugurated Varun Beverages Limited’s new unit, which has been set up with an investment of ₹624 crore at Malipada in Khurda district. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for 13 industrial projects, all located within Khurda, reinforcing the district’s role as a key industrial hub.
The landmark event was carried out across three locations—New Industrial Estate Haldiapada, Industrial Estate Mundamba, and Khordha Textile Park Kalibeti—demonstrating the state’s commitment to fast-tracking industrial projects.
The initiatives come within 60 days of the successful conclusion of Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, showcasing the government’s efficiency in transforming investment proposals into real-time economic opportunities. Speaking at the event, Majhi emphasized Odisha’s commitment to business-friendly reforms and industrial growth, ensuring an ecosystem that prioritizes ease of doing business.
The projects cover a diverse range of sectors, including food processing, textiles, apparel, technical textiles, mechanical and electrical capital goods, packaging, and refractories. Several prominent global and domestic firms, such as Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory Pvt. Ltd., Polimiroir India Pvt. Ltd., Shalimar Glass Works Pvt. Ltd., and IFGL Refractories Ltd., participated in the event.
“These projects are not just industrial ventures—they are growth engines for Odisha, providing employment for our youth and pushing the state toward a ‘Samrudh Odisha’ (Developed Odisha). We are committed to building an inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive industrial ecosystem,” Majhi stated.
Industries, Skill Development & Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain also addressed the gathering, highlighting the government’s focus on industrial infrastructure, skill development, and regional diversification.
Following the groundbreaking at Haldiapada Industrial Park, the CM visited Khordha One Industrial Estate, where he launched the Nestlé India Mega Food Factory project. Later, he inaugurated Varun Beverages’ state-of-the-art facility. The event concluded at New Textile Park, Kalibeti, where Majhi inspected the under-construction Trimetro Garments India Pvt. Ltd.
