Odisha CM Meets Collectors & SPs Over VC, Discusses July Strategy For COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today convened a meeting of Collectors and SPs of all districts of Odisha to discuss the strategy to contain the spread of COVID-19 in July. The Chief Minister stressed on three points during the discussion – zero infection at all Government offices, care for COVID warriors and strict implementation face mask for all.

During the video conference, the Collectors and SPs shared their experiences over the past three months in battling COVID-19 in their respective districts. On the basis of the ideas put across by them, the State Government will be laying out a detailed strategy for fighting COVID-19 in July.

DUring these testing times, the frontline workers are sacrificing a lot for the service of mankind. Therefore the officials should ensure maximum care for the COVID warriors. Besides, they should be adequately educated on safety, said Naveen at the meeting.

Naveen said the he is personally interacting with infected COVID warriors about their well being over telephone and so far their feedback has been good. The senior officials need to interact with the infected frontline workers in a similar manner. By this their morale will be boosted, the Chief Minister said.

The employees at Government offices should be aware of the Dos and Dont’s to ensure that the premises remain ‘Zero Infection Zone’. The Head of the Office will be responsible for this activity. Naveen instructed the Police to make sure that people abide by the guidelines on face mask and social distancing in letter and spirit.

COVID care committees should be setup at Gaon Kalyan Samitis levels and the stakeholders need to have money and authority for this activity. To keep a check on the activity and to train the COVID care committees, COVID care homes need to be setup at Panchayat levels. The Temporary Medical Centres will include multiple panchayats. The Chief Minister stressed on empowering these units at all levels. Reports revealed that in ward-levels, 4.70 lakh COVID care committee members will be imparted training.

Naveen also highlighted on the importance of creating awareness among employees of private hospitals. Whether the private hospitals are adhering to the COVID guidelines or not, this should be verified regularly. The Collectors need to prepare a distinct strategy for hotspot areas on need basis, said Naveen.

Odisha has performed well so far in COVID management and will continue to do so in the future, the Chief Minister said. Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, DG Police Abhay, Secretary to CM (5-T) VK Pandian and senior officials attended the meeting.
