Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi flagged off the Subhadra Yojana Awareness Rath (chariot) on Saturday, launching a state-wide initiative to inform people about the scheme aimed at empowering women.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida, Majhi highlighted the significance of the scheme, noting that it would benefit women across Odisha.
“The Subhadra Yojana is not just an opportunity for women empowerment but also a reflection of Odia Asmita (pride),” said Majhi. The awareness chariots will educate people on how to apply for the scheme, ensuring that the benefits reach every eligible woman.
Deputy CM Parida assured that there is no deadline for the registration process, and all women who qualify will be covered.
“The awareness chariot will address any confusion regarding the scheme,” Parida stated. She emphasized that no beneficiary would be left out.
Under the Subhadra Yojana, women beneficiaries will receive an annual sum of ₹10,000 for five years, with the first installment of ₹5,000 to be disbursed on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
The scheme is part of the promises made in the BJP’s election manifesto, with a target of enrolling at least 1 crore women.
