Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep condolences on the sad demise of one of the separated conjoined twins, Kalia, at Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital last night.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister has tweeted, “The demise of Kalia is extremely saddening despite concerted efforts of the team of doctors and the best medical treatment offered to him. May God bestow the bereft family members with patience to bear the tragedy. I pray God for the salvation of Kalia’s soul that departed prematurely and also wish for the well-being and best health of Jaga.”
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had sanctioned Rs 1 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for their surgery and treatment at Delhi AIIMS then. The Odisha Government was fully looking after their treatment and medical expenditure there. After being separated, the erstwhile conjoined twins Jaga and Kalia were admitted to SCB Medical College & Hospital on September 7, 2019 after they were discharged from AIIMS New Delhi.
