Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has offered his condolences on the demise of centenarian freedom fighter Jitendra Pradhan who passed away due to old age on Friday.
“I am saddened to learn of the death of centenarian freedom fighter Jitendra Pradhan. He will always be remembered for his contribution to the country’s Independence. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray for the departed soul to rest in peace,” tweeted Patnaik.
ଶତାୟୁ ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତା ସଂଗ୍ରାମୀ ଜିତେନ୍ଦ୍ରୀୟ ପ୍ରଧାନଙ୍କ ଦେହାନ୍ତ ବିଷୟରେ ଜାଣି ମୁଁ ଦୁଃଖିତ। ଦେଶର ସ୍ୱାଧୀନତାରେ ତାଙ୍କର ଅବଦାନ ପାଇଁ ସେ ସର୍ବଦା ସ୍ମରଣୀୟ ରହିବେ। ତାଙ୍କ ଅମର ଆତ୍ମାର ସଦଗତି କାମନା କରିବା ସହ ଶୋକସନ୍ତପ୍ତ ପରିବାର ସଦସ୍ୟଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ମୋର ସମବେଦନା ଜଣାଉଛି।

Pradhan was the last among the 32 freedom fighters of Panimura village, in Sohel block of Bargarh district, who had taken part in the 1942 Quit India movement and been put behind bars.
The 102-year-old freedom fighter is survived by his adopted son, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons. His last rites were performed on Friday afternoon with full national honour after a Guard of Honour by the district administration.
