Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today ordered District Collectors of the districts affected by Cyclone Bulbul to send their damage assessment reports to the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) latest by November 18.
The Chief Minister also directed the District Collectors to disburse assistance to the affected by November 24, said an official release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Patnaik during his discussion with the District Collectors of the affected districts through video conferencing at the review meeting held at the Lok Seva Bhawan stressed for observing complete transparency in damage assessment and assistance disbursement.
The Chief Minister directed that all information regarding assessment of damage and disbursement of assistance to the affected will have to be displayed at the Gram Panchayat office for information of the general public.
Besides, assistance amount has to be credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through DBT (direct benefit transfer).
Moreover, in addition to the above, all information on this account has to be made available at the district administration’s website.
Government and private properties have suffered extensive damage in the six districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj under the impact of Cyclone Bulbul. Apart from damage to houses and crop livelihood of people have suffered. In many places power infrastructure has been damaged.
The Chief Minister directed the officials for restoring infrastructure within next two days and provide drinking water using generators till power is restored and wherever necessary provide drinking water through water tankers.
The Chief Minister highly appreciated ODRAF personnel for their rescue operations during the cyclone and restoration of communication.
