Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid a heartfelt floral tribute to the mortal remains of Raj Kishore Munda, a brave Odia jawan who lost his life while trying to save a passenger bus during a landslide in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.
Munda, hailing from Keonjhar’s Nuagaon area, was serving in the 6th Battalion of the Bihar Regiment at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh
The incident occurred on March 29 when Munda was trying to protect a passenger bus during a landslide.
CM Majhi paid tributes to Munda after Munda’s mortal remains arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport at 7:50 am today and announced that the martyred soldier will be laid to rest in his native village with full State honours.
Expressing grief over his demise, CM Majhi acknowledged Munda’s ultimate sacrifice, saying he laid down his life in the line of duty.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family of Raj Kishore Munda, a brave jawan who made the ultimate sacrifice. As he hailed from a village within my constituency, I had the privilege of knowing his family personally. I remember him as a man with an even-tempered personality, whose bravery will be etched in the nation’s memory forever. I firmly believe that the nation has lost a true hero, and his passing is a tremendous loss for our country. I pray that his soul rests in peace.”
