**Bhubaneswar: ** In the run up to the second edition of Make in Odisha Conclave 2018, Odishal’ industrialisation journey received a major boost with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik performing ground breaking ceremony for 15 industrial units which will collectively invest Rs 1807.92 Crore and create employment opportunities for 8,883 people.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Minister said, “I am pleased to note that we are grounding the industrial projects at a fast pace. I am particularly happy to note that the private industrial park policy of my Government has seen good response from the investor community and we have performed groundbreaking of the industrial park at Dhamra, which will promote port-led manufacturing in the State. In less than one year, we have done the groundbreaking or inauguration of 64 projects which have created employment opportunities for more than 30,000 youth. This has only reaffirmed our position as the number one state in implementation of live manufacturing investrnents.”
“Our focus is also to diversify the industrial growth across the State In this regard, the maize processing plant at Nabarangpur will contribute significantly in creating new job opportunities for the people in this industrially backward district,” stated the Chief Minister.
He informed, “The 15 industries for which groundbreaking has been conducted today will provide employment to more than 8,800 people in the State,” adding, “I congratulate all the concerned departments for their continuous efforts towards successful grounding of these projects.”
The 15 industries are Ultratech Cement in Cuttack, Welspun Orissa at Dhamra in Bhadrak, Chettinad Cement in Jajpur, Surya Foodsin Khurda, P& A Brothers Pvt Ltd in Dhenkanal and others.
Notably, the State is providing unmatched facilitation mechanism to investors where the Chief Minister closely monitors the investment proposals leading to grounding of projects on time with all supporting infrastructure facilities. This assumes significance as Odisha is among the few states in India which is attracting big-ticket investment proposals in manufacturing consistently.
Additionally, the High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) headed by the Chief Minister cleared 6 mega manufacturing proposals entailing investments to the tune of Rs 25.845 crore. These large scale manufacturing units have the potential to create 13,700 jobs across the state.
The 6 proposals which received the final nod from Chief Minister are Chiripal Poly Films Ltd at Paradip, Hindalco at Lapanga in Sambalpur, NALCO at Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal, Vedanta (expansion project) at Bhurkamund in Jharsuguda, Vedanta Ltd at Dhamra in Bhadrak and Vedanta at Lanjigarh in Kalahandi.
