Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday presented the plan of the mega heritage corridor project for Puri Jagannath Temple to the people of the state in the Assembly.
Greeting the Speaker, the Chief Minister said, “The identity of Odias is Lord Jagannath. Our history, our culture, our traditions and our beliefs are all built around the Lord. We are fortunate that he has given us the opportunity to develop his temple in our time.”
“All devotees who come to the temple to see the Lord have a desire to see the Lord in a peaceful, beautiful and spiritual environment. Million of devotees pray to visit the Jagannath Temple once in a lifetime and get a glimpse of the Lord. It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that all devotees return with a divine feeling,” he added.
In this regard, when Justice B.P Das. Commission recommended for the Heritage Security corridor around Shree Jagannath Temple, the Shri Mandir Parikrama Yojana was considered with three objectives in mind, said the Chief Minister.
He listed the objectives as:
1) Security of the temple
2) The safety of the millions of devotees who for darshan of the Lord
3) Creating a beautiful spiritual environment for devotees
Led by Gajapati Maharaja, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has drawn up a Shri Mandir Parikrama Plan after several discussions with various stakeholders, informed Patnaik and thanked all the stakeholders.
“In general, the government takes steps to implement the plan. I firmly believe that this plan is not only for the government or for the temple administration. It is the plan of 4.5 crore Odias. Therefore, I consider myself blessed to present the Corridor Plan of Srimandir to the people of Odisha through you,” he added.
“This is a historic moment for all of us. Such opportunities are rare. All of us, all the people of Odisha, have come together to share this unique moment today,” said the Chief Minister.
