Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the need to improve traffic management and transportation systems in Bhubaneswar keeping the city’s growing population in mind.
According to a release issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the Public Works Department and the Housing and Urban Development Department have presented various road development plans for the city to the Chief Minister at Lok Seva Bhawan in a bid to address the increasing traffic congestion.
In a presentation, the Works Department proposed various road projects for Bhubaneswar including a road from Jaydev Vihar to Nandan Kanan, a ring road from Patia Station Square to National Highway-16, upgrading of Sundarpada-Jatani road, a new road from Institute of Mathematics to Ekamra Kanan, new flyover from Kalpana Square to Museum to Rabi Talkies, another road over bridge between Sishu Bhawan and Mausima, and ring road construction from Tamando to Chandaka to Barang to Dhuali to Tamando.
Similarly, the Housing and Urban Development Department presented detailed information regarding the formation of the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri Economic Region and the development of Greater Bhubaneswar.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg and other senior officials.
