Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today reviewed various programmes of the Energy Department at the Lok Seva Bhawan.
According to an official press release, the meeting focused on ensuring uninterrupted power supply during the upcoming summer season and expanding the reach of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana (rooftop solar scheme) to include more beneficiaries across the state.
During the review meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to utilize at least 85% of the Energy Department’s budget.
He highlighted the recurring issue of power outages during summer due to overloading and directed officials to upgrade feeders and transformers to address this problem.
CM Majhi also stressed the importance of establishing a robust backup system to ensure reliable power supply.
To meet the peak power demand, the Chief Minister advised officials to hold discussions with various power generation companies to ensure adequate electricity availability in the state.
He also mentioned that steps would be taken to seek assistance from the Central government if required.
Additionally, CM Majhi directed officials to fully activate a quick response system to address consumer grievances during power outages.
The Chief Minister instructed all power distribution companies in the state to remain vigilant and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the summer months.
He also directed the Energy Secretary to take measures to curb unnecessary power wastage in government offices. CM Majhi suggested the use of sensor-based electrical equipment in government offices to promote energy conservation.
Regarding the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, the Chief Minister called for a widespread awareness campaign to include more people in the rooftop solar scheme. This initiative aims to promote renewable energy and reduce dependency on conventional power sources.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Additional Chief Secretary to the CM Nikunj Bihari Dhal, Principal Secretary, Energy Vishal Dev, OPTCL Chairman and Managing Director Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, CEOs of the state’s four power distribution companies, and other senior officials of the Energy Department.
