Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has reviewed the Kharif paddy procurement process, emphasizing the implementation of the increased Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs. 3,100 per quintal.
The move aims to benefit farmers in the state, with a record one crore metric tons of paddy procured this year.
To facilitate farmers, the Chief Minister ordered the simplification of the paddy procurement process in Mandis. He also stressed the importance of constructing adequate warehouses to safely store the collected grains.
The state currently produces 68 lakh metric tons of rice. Payments are made directly to farmers’ bank accounts within 24-48 hours of procurement. To enhance transparency, biometric and Aadhaar linkage systems have been introduced, along with GPS tracking of procurement vehicles through the e-Vahan app.
Additionally, an ‘Automatic Grain Analyser’ system will check grain quality during collection. Officials from Agriculture and Farmer Empowerment, Food Supply, Panchayatiraj, and Revenue departments will conduct field-level inspections to expedite the process.
