Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has sought the cooperation of all servitors, administration, various social organizations and local people for the smooth conduct of the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and His siblings.
The Chief Minister made the appeal while chairing the Rath Yatra State-level review meeting held at the Town Hall in Puri on Tuesday.
Speaking at the meeting the Chief Minister said that Adivasis (tribals) are the original servitors of Mahaprabhu Jagannath.
“As an Adivasi, I have fully devoted myself to Lord Jagannath,” the Chief Minister said.
“Lord Jagannath is the identity of the Odia race, His Rath Yatra is an important religious and spiritual festival for the whole world. Therefore, all should observe it with utmost dedication and responsibility,” the Chief Minister appealed.
As lakhs of devotees from abroad will come to Puri, the Chief Minister expressed hope that the Rath Yatra will be completed smoothly with cooperation from all.
The Chief Minister has expressed hope and confidence that the people of Puri, the servitors of Mahaprabhu, the administration, and the police, will conduct the world-famous Rath Yatra of the Mahaprabhu glitch-free with the attitude of devotion and service.
The year’s Rath Yatra being unusual he expressed happiness that the new government has taken charge and said that this year there will be a holiday on the next day of Rath Yatra as the Rath Yatra is held for two days. Therefore, July 7th and 8th have been declared as holidays.
The two Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, other Ministers, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, senior officers, and servitors of Mahaprabhu were present in the meeting.
