Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is to announce a major action plan to check migration, informed Labour & Employees’ State Insurance Minister Susanta Singh while attending a State-Level awareness workshop on Mo Sarkar in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
Migration is an issue spanning decades a major cause of which is lack of awareness. It is most prevalent in districts of Bolangir, Kalahandi and Nuapada, he added.
Singh further said that, in continuance of its plan to provide good governance to the people, Odisha Government is going to include the Labour & Employees’ State Insurance department in the ‘Mo Sarkar’ programme from January 2020. While asserting that action will be taken against negligent government officials, Singh said that as none wants to get punished they have to give good performance.
The department is taking steps to keep labourers away from middlemen and immediate action is being taken on getting any information about middlemen. Help desks have been set up at five States, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Delhi for the labourers who have migrated from Odisha.
Besides, the Chief Minister has urged the Centre to set up a special desk at Delhi for Odia labourers migrating outside country to keep in touch with the External Affairs Ministry.
