Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to revitalizing Cuttack, the historic “Silver City,” while outlining a broader roadmap for a prosperous Odisha during Republic day celebration in Cuttack
“The government is committed to the development of Cuttack. The infrastructure of Cuttack will be further strengthened,” Majhi declared. Key announcements included widening city roads, constructing a new road from Dhakulei Peeth to Kandarpur, linking Cuttack to the Capital Region Ring Road for complete decongestion, and renovating Barabati Stadium to enhance its glory and appeal. He expressed confidence in securing UNESCO recognition for Bali Yatra, the ancient maritime festival, and highlighted the ongoing Mahanadi Riverfront development to make Cuttack even more beautiful and attractive.
“An economic hub will be created around Cuttack. Cuttack will definitely regain its pride… Cuttack city will be the best example of ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi’ (Development as well as Heritage),” he said. Reflecting nationally, Majhi noted that while 1947 brought political independence, the last 11 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi have sparked a new awakening in cultural nationalism alongside social and economic progress.
He described Republic Day 2026 as bringing dreams, possibilities, opportunities, and challenges, expressing full faith in the hard work of Odisha’s people. Calling upon citizens to resolve to uphold democratic ideals, Majhi urged unity: “You all are the strength, courage and wealth of our state. Joining hands, let us together make the dream of a prosperous and developed Odisha a reality.
” As the “chief servant” of the people, he affirmed, “We can, we can definitely,” welcoming a new sunrise of hope and prosperity. The address resonated deeply, inspiring the gathering to envision a vibrant future for Odisha and its cultural heart, Cuttack.
