Bhubaneswar: As many as 4,166 on Wednesday joined various schools of the Odisha government. A Nijukti Parva programme was organised at the Kalinga Stadium here for the purpose.
Attending the programme, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik called upon the newly recruited teachers to instill deep self-confidence among the children. Along with this, he advised the new recruits to inspire children to love our great country, great race and great culture and feel proud of it.
He further advised them to make children dream big and be successful in achieving their goals. He said teachers will have a significant contribution in building a new and empowered Odisha in the 21st century.
Congratulating the newly appointed teachers, the CM said, “Behind your success lies the special contribution of your family. I congratulate them for this”.
The CM said that education instills basic knowledge and skills in children. It helps in developing competitive spirit in addition to transforming them to citizens, he added.
He also said that the goal of teachers is not only to create good students, but also create good human beings. He said that teaching is not just a profession but a mission to prepare Odisha for the future.
Stating that the state government has given utmost importance to education, the Chief Minister said that 6,883 high schools have been converted under the 5T initiative so far.
This has resulted in a huge change in the infrastructure and overall environment of the school. This has transformed the education landscape of the state. Enrollment in government schools has increased significantly due to this, he added.
Stating that the State Government has launched the Mukhyamantri Shikhya Puraskar scheme to incentivise the education sector, he said that there is a provision for giving awards to all involved in the education sector. He said that a budget of Rs 138 crore per year has been approved for this. He said that these awards will be given to teachers, students, government schools, Gram Panchayats, school management committees, former students and district and block level education officials.
Speaking at the programme, School & Mass Education Minister Sudam Marndi stated that Chief Minister’s 5t transformation is continuing. The Chief Minister aims at transformation in every sphere and build an empowered Odisha, he added.He urged the newly recruited teachers to teach the students with sincerity to fulfill Chief Minister’s dream of an empowered Odisha.
Nabin Odisha and 5T Chairman VK Pandian interacted with the newly appointed teachers and said that it is their responsibility to create a bright future for the children in the state.
Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena speaking to the newly appointed teachers said that the Chief Minister has brought extensive reforms in the education system in the state. He advised them to make efforts to strengthen our education system.
School and Mass Education Commissioner-cum-Secretary Aswathy S delivered the welcome address and Director of Secondary Education offered the vote of thanks at the programme.
