Bhubaneswar: In view of the prediction of rainfall at many parts of the State till January 5 and cold conditions to prevail for the next three days, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena has issued some precautionary measures to be taken by all Collectors.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted that light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the State from January 3 to January 5.
Thereafter, cold conditions likely to prevail in the State during the next three days due to gradual fall in minimum temperature.
In view of this, the following measures may be taken by the District Collectors,
1.) The farmers may be advised:
- To shift their harvested paddy to safe places and keep it properly stacked under suitable cover to avoid any loss/damage due to rain.
- Necessary measures should also be taken to protect the paddy in mandies, if any, against rain.
2.) Shelters or school buildings may be kept open at night for homeless or needy people for rest to protect them from the cold conditions.
It is worthwhile to mention yellow warning has been issued by the IMD till January 6, as per which, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Koraput, Cuttack, Khurda, Sonepur, Boudh and Sundergarh today.
Besides, dense fog is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha from January 4 to 6.
