Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Congress has called for a state-wide protest against women’s abuse, with a ‘Mashal March’ scheduled for April 15.

The march will take place at all block headquarters, with protests planned in front of 314 blocks across the State. Additionally, the party will gherao the district collector’s office on April 21, PCC President Bhakta Charan Das informed at a press meet.

Emphasizing the party’s commitment to women’s safety, Das said that previous and present government turned a blind eyes to the safety of women. Das criticized the unholy BJD-BJP alliance for prioritizing women’s safety during the last elections but failing to deliver on their promises.

Das asked, “Where has the respect for women gone? Aren’t those who get pregnant in school or are victims of rape women too?” He urged the common masses, especially women, to participate in the march and demand justice.

The Odisha Congress has vowed to continue fighting for women’s rights and justice, despite the BJD and BJP alliance attempts to unite against them.
