Bhubaneswar: Odisha Congress leaders have come out in full support of Sonia Gandhi's appointment as the century-old party's interim president.

At a juncture when Congress is marred with the one of the toughest times in history of the country's oldest party, the senior leaders said, Gandhi's appointment has given fresh lease of life.

Party veteran Narasingha Mishra who returned from New Delhi today said that Sonia will revive the party. "Sonia Gandhi has been appointed president with a full consensus. In the beginning the AICC team (new) will be formed. The AICC team will take a call on the teams for the states," he said.

It is being speculated that the Odisha Congress would soon be restructured. However, Mishra did not divulge much about the expected changes in OPCC.

Senior Congress leader Suresh Routray said that Sonia Gandhi was the most fitting candidate to head Congress at this point. "Our party has been through tough times. Sonia Ji would salvage us from the debacles of the recent past," Routray said.
