Khurdha: The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Wednesday launched a statewide protest against the rise in fuel prices and other issues.
In accordance with it, Congress activists under the leadership of Jatni MLA and senior Congress leader Suresh Kumar Routray staged a protest near Jatni block office.
Routray expressed his displeasure over the hike in prices of fuel and consumable goods. The party also submitted a memorandum addressed to the President, to the BDO.
OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik had on Monday announced that the protest will continue from July 7 to 17.
As per the agenda, the party will stage a demonstration in every block headquarters on July 7, in every district headquarters on July 9, and in the capital city Bhubaneswar on July 14.
The party has also requested all consumers in the State to cooperate with the movement by boycotting the purchase of fuel on July 15. It will organise a signature campaign of consumers in front of every petrol pump on July 17.
