Bhubaneswar:  Close on the heels of Mahila Pradesh Congress President Sumitra Jena quitting the party, spokesperson Sonali Sahoo also followed suit and handed over her resignation today.

She too, displeased over the party leadership in the State, resigned from the party. In her resignation letter, she stated, "I am resigning from the primary membership of Congress due to callousness of party leadership." Reportedly, Sonali was a ticket aspirant to contest the polls from Khorda Assembly seat.

It is notable to mention here that on April 9, Sumitra Jena quit the party alleging irregularities in ticket distribution. She was disappointed that out of 60 potential women candidates, only 5 women were given the chance by Congress to contest polls. She later joined the ruling BJD.
