As per the statements of the persons detained along with the amount, they have lifted the money from Cuttack or Bhubaneswar. Odisha Police is extending full support to Chhattisgarh Police and trying to go to bottom of the truth, said Sharma.
Details about the person who gave the money, the purpose behind it and its source will be revealed only after a detailed investigation, he added.
Notably, a car bearing registration number of Uttar Pradesh (UP) was on its way from Cuttack in Odisha to Agra in UP when it was intercepted by police during a routine checking at Khallari Police Station area in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
During search of the vehicle, over Rs 10 crore was discovered concealed in the back seat of the car. On questioning, the persons in the car said the money belongs to an Agra-based businessman Avdhesh Agrawal, whose payment was due in Cuttack.
