Odisha Crime Branch Launches Probe Into Ransomeware Cyber Attack
**Bhubaneswar:** Crime Branch of Odisha Police on Wednesday launched a probe into WannaCry Ransomeware virus attack in Berhampur City hospital.
Special Director General of Police (Crime Branch) B.K. Sharma informed this in a tweet. ” A three member team of Cyber Crime Police Station has also been formed to investigate the case,” the tweet reads.
Meanwhile, newly appointed Information and Technology Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera also convened a high-level meeting to tackle the situation. The Minister also had a conversation with District Collectors through video conferencing and asked them to comply with the guidelines issued by the State Crime Branch and IT Department to ensure cyber security.
After the meeting, Information and Technology Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera said, “A team visited the Berhampur city hospital and they have given some important data regarding this. Another team of technical experts from IIIT, NIC and OCAC will also be visiting the hospital for further investigation.”
Earlier on Monday, Odisha Crime Branch issued advisory to internet users to prevent WannaCry Ransomware attack which has created panic across the world.
