Bhubaneswar: Minister of State for Home, Dibya Shankar Mishra todday announced that Crime Branch will investigate the death case of 5-year-old Pari of Nayagarh. Pari was allegedly kidnapped and murdered on July 14, this year in Nayagarh.
Addressing the Assembly today, during the ongoing Winter Session, Mishra said that the case of the minor girl’s murder will be investigated by the Crime Branch. “The case has been transferred to the State Crime Branch. The Crime Branch will not start investigation and take action as per the law,” the Minister said.
The little girl’s parents Ashok Sahoo and Saudamini of Jadupur village in Nayagarh district attempted self immolation infront of the Odisha Assembly here on Tuesday demanding justice. The couple was saved by police and security personnel deployed on the Assembly premises.
The couple alleged that police have not taken any action in connection with the kidnap and murder of their five-year-old daughter in July this year. Her body was found in the backyard with eyes gouged out and kidneys removed, Pari’s parents told media persons on Tuesday while being whisked away by the security personnel.
In this case, the Nayagarh Sadar police registered an FIR on July 14, on the basis of a complaint lodged by the minor girl’s parents. While search for the girl was on, her decomposed body was found near the village pond on July 23, 2020, the Minister informed the Assembly today.
A forensic team and sniffer dogs examined the site from where the body was recovered on July 24. The post mortem was done at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. Sexual abuse and cause of death could not be determined at that stage of decomposition with the available body parts, the post mortem report stated.
The DNA sampling was done at State Forensic Sciences Laboratory following which the identity of the body was established. The body was of the complainant’s daughter, Mishra’s said.
So far, the polygraph tests of four persons have been completed. The call detail records of mobile phones of the suspects have been examined. Till now, 34 suspects have been questioned in this case which was being supervised by the Sub Divisional Police Officer of Nayagarh, the Home Minister stated in the Assembly today.
