Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy held a high-level meeting with Union Coal Secretary Sumant Chaudhary at the Lok Seva Bhavan here on Friday. At the meeting, the two senior officials discussed rehabilitation and operationalization of new coal projects in Odisha.
They made an assessment of 11 coal projects which are in the development stage. The officials interacted with Collectors and SPs of coal-bearing districts over video-conferencing.
The modalities of the coal blocks – Talabira 2 and 3, Manoharpur, Deepside Manoharpur, Utkal D, Utkal E, Naini, Mandakini B, Baitarani West, Brahmani, Kundanali, and Sarpal, were discussed at the meeting.
Environment clearance, compensation of the displaced, land acquisition, rehabilitation colonies, deforestation compensation, and handing over the acquired land, these matters were prioritised at the meeting.
The Chief Secretary and Coal Secretary highlighted on expediting the coal production and ensuring appropriate rehabilitation for the affected people.
