Rayagada: An attempt to establish illicit physical relation was foiled and has landed a District Education Officer (DEO) clerk in soup. The accused Satyanarayan Bisoyi was taken into custody on Monday by Rayagada Town Police based on a complaint by an Assistant High School teacher.
The complainant was suspended in March along with her school’s Headmaster after one of the student’s admit card did not arrive on time during Matric exams. The inquiry was finally set-up in May and during this entire duration; the accused was in touch with the victim.
While initially the discussions were work-related, the accused later asked for sexual favours in return for solving her issues. When the victim refused, Bisoyi resorted to threatening her with dire consequences.
She was finally posted to Durgi High School in Bissam cuttack block on July 22. She was, however, not paid her due salary even after a month. When she contacted the office of DEO, she was informed that she was never given a posting at the said High School.
Seeking respite from her dilemma, the victim requested the district Collector to help her out. She also filed a complaint against Bisoyi at Rayagada Town Police Station. Based on her complaint, the Police took the accused into custody.
Sri Pramod Kumar Behera, Rayagada Collector, has promised to look into the said matter. He said that an inquiry committee will be set up and next course of action will be decided as per committee’s report.
Meanwhile, Bisoyi has accused the complainant of harassing him due to a previous altercation for which he is not responsible.
