Odisha: DG Fire Services Orders Review Of Safety Measures At COVID Hospitals
Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the fire at a COVID hospital in Ahmedabad today morning, the fire personnel in Odisha have been put on alert. DG Fire Services Satyajit Mohanty has directed Odisha Fire Service personnel to conduct inspection in COVID hospitals across the State.
The DG Fire Services Tweeted:
“We have directed our Assistant Fire Officers and Deputy Fire Officers to visit the COVID hospitals and covid care centres under their respective jurisdictions, review the fire safety measures and deficiencies, if any, advise the authorities on taking proper measures.”
Eight coronavirus patients died in a huge fire that broke out in the ICU of Shrey Hospital in Ahmedabad’s Navrangpura area at around 3 am today. Eight fire engines and 10 ambulances of the fire department were rushed to the site. Five men and three women, admitted to the ICU ward, died in the mishap.
The senior Fire Service officials have been asked to visit all the Covid Care Hospitals and Covid Care Centres under their respective jurisdiction and do fire safety audits.
“The incharge of CCCs and CCHs will be advised to take fire prevention and fire safety measures to avoid any fire mishap. The concerned officer have been instructed to conduct the fire safety audit and submit their recommendation within 24 hours,” the Fire Service Department informed.
More than 150 Covid Care Hospitals and Covid Care Centres are functioning in the state and being disinfected by the Fire Service personnel on regular basis using fire service appliances.
