Bhubaneswar: Following a two-week leave after his wife’s untimely death, Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma joined office on Sunday. According to reports, Sharma took stock of security arrangements for the third (April 23) and fourth (April 29) phase polls, immediately after taking charge.
In his absence, Bijay Kumar Sharma, Director General of Fire Services, Home Guards and Civil Defence, was appointed as the DGP-In-Charge. BK Sharma was looking over the affairs during first (April 11) and second phase (April 18) of simultaneous polls in State. Out of the three names recommended to the Election Commission, BK Sharma had been given the additional duty following the EC’s approval.
It is notable to mention here that incumbent DGP RP Sharma had taken a leave after his wife Tushar Sharma passed away on April 7 while undergoing treatment for pneumonia in a private hospital in New Delhi.
