Bhubaneswar: Intensifying its drive against drunken driving in the State on national highways (NH) and State Highways (SH), Odisha Police have arrested 38 drunk drivers in a single day.
These 38 drunk drivers were arrested at 14 toll gates on NHs and SHs across the State under section 185/202 of the MV Act on Friday, said press note issued by the Odisha Police today.
While 11 persons were arrested in Sundargarh district, three were arrested in Sambalpur district, five in Keonjhar district, three in Jajpur district, three in Bargarh district, four in Cuttack district, three in Ganjam district, three in Khurda district and three in Balasore district, the release added.
In a related incident, a woman riding a two-wheeler was fined Rs 13,000 by officials of the Transport department in Bhadrak over multiple charges including riding vehicle registered under her father's name, driving without license, insurance papers and helmet.
