Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Driver Mahasangha has withdrawn from its agitation following talks with the government.
Office bearers of the Mahasangha said that the Mahasangha’s talks with the government have been largely successful.
The Mahasangha had hit the street today demanding recognition as Covid warrior for its members and a Rs 20 lakh insurance cover in the event of death.
Earlier in the day, hundreds of members of the Mahasangha were on a padayatra to Naveen Niwas, over a 10-point charter of demands including pension and recognition as Covid Warriors.
The drivers had been on padayatra across various districts of the State from Oct 21.
Their demands also included Rs 5000 pension, and the construction of restrooms at every 50 kilometres on National & State Highways.
