Bhubaneswar: After assuming charge as the Minister for Electronics and Information Technology of Odisha, Minister Mukesh Mahaling today conducted a review of the activities of the Electronics & Information Technology (E & IT) Department at the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), Bhubaneswar.
The review meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev, CEO OCAC-cum Addl. Secretary E&IT Department Manoj Pattnaik, Spl. Secretary Manas Ranjan Panda, General Manager OCAC Madhumita Rath, Addl. Secretary Aditya Mohapatra, Jt. Secretary Jayanti Dei and other senior officials of the E & IT Department and OCAC.
At the outset, Principal Secretary Vishal Dev welcomed the Minister with a bouquet. On this occasion, the Minister had a detailed discussion with the senior officers of the Department.
The Minister was apprised regarding the various programmes of the E & IT Department. Further, attention was drawn to the role of the E&IT Department in delivering e-governance services to the common citizens through technical intervention.
Minister Mahaling was apprised regarding the role played by the various organisations functioning under the aegis of the E & IT Department namely OCAC, Odia Virtual Academy, IIIT Bhubaneswar and OKCL.
Leading e-Governance projects such as Odisha State Data Centre, Odisha State Wide Area Network (OSWAN), Cyber Security Operation Centre (CSOC), Odisha Secretariat IT Centre, BharatNet, Odisha State Workflow Automation System (OSWAS), Odisha One Portal, E-Despatch, CM Dashboard, SAMS, E-District etc. and their evolution over the years was explained to the Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahaling stated that the newly formed Government will work in a time-bound manner towards fulfilling the promises as stated in the manifesto to stand true to the mandate of the people.
He asserted that the Government is determined to work tirelessly and will take exemplary steps in the next 100 days for the welfare of the state.
He said this Government is a Government of the common man. As such, all necessary steps will be taken by the Government to fulfil the aspirations of the common man by the use of technology in Governance. The E & IT Department will work as per the mandate of the Digital India Initiative of the Government of India, taking steps to implement all welfare schemes at the grassroots level. Apart from this, priority will be given to bringing new IT companies to the State and creating a conducive ecosystem for investors in the Electronics and IT Sector.
Further, proactive steps will be taken towards popularizing Odia Virtual Academy by organising workshops, conferences, meetings and virtual literary discussions.
Apart from this, the Minister said that emphasis would be laid on strengthening mobile networks and internet facilities in the rural areas of the State.
Concluding the review, Minister Mahaling thanked all the senior officials present and called upon them to work in unison towards providing excellent e-governance services to the people at the grassroots level.
