Odisha: ECoR Begins Restructuring Of Puri Railway Station, More Buses Ply For Train Passengers' Free Service

Bhubaneswar: Special free-of-cost bus service by the East Coast Railways (ECoR) has been arranged for the help of commuters in the next 11 days as many trains will not be going to Puri Railway Station, where the Railways have undertaken restructuring and modification work.

The cancellation and partial cancellation of trains is scheduled to start from today and 10 buses will take on the work of these trains. A total of 8 buses will ply from the capital city and 2 buses will ply from Khordha road.

With stickers of “On Govt Duty, ECoR” doting the front windows, the buses have already started their service to help the commuters and will continue till September 25.

The modernization work in the station will include accommodation of more coaches on platform 7 and 8, new integrated pit line, upgradation of signal system and flexibility of train operations.

To avoid mass disruption of train services and to avoid large-scale inconvenience to people, total train services have not been cancelled. Rather, a few trains have been cancelled only, railway officials informed.

Altogether, 12 pairs of Mail/Express Trains and 4 pairs of local passenger trains will remain cancelled during the restructuring work. Similarly, 7 pairs of Mail/Express Trains will be cancelled partially, i.e. these trains will end its journey and originate at Bhubaneswar & Khurda Road instead of Puri.

Bonafide passengers who are supposed to entrain or detrain at Puri will be provided with free Bus Service to and from Puri from Khurda Road and Bhubaneswar Railway Stations for Puri-Howrah-Puri Dhauli Express, Puri-Sambalpur-Puri Inter City, Puri-Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express and Puri-Tirupati-Puri Express during the period in both the directions, added the railway officials.

12882/12881 Puri-Howrah-Puri Garib Rath Express; 22883/22884 Puri-Yesvantpur-Puri garib Rath Express; 22859/22860 Puri-Chennai-Puri Express; 18405/18406 Puri-Ahmedabad-Puri Express; 12888/12887 Puri-Howrah-Puri Weekly Express; 12993/12994 Gandhidham-Puri-Gandhidham Express; 12146/12145 Puri-LTT-Puri Express; 22201/22202 Sealdah-Puri-Sealdah Express; 12278/12277 Puri-Howrah-Puri Shatabdi Express; 08091/08092 Bhanjapur-Puri-Bhanjapur (Baripada) Express; 58131/58132 Rourkela-Puri-Rourkela Passenger; 58404/58403 & 58409/58410 Puri-Khurda Road-Puri Passenger; 58431/58432 Khurda Road-Nayagarh Town-Khurda Road Passenger trains

Here are the trains that have been partially cancelled:

12277/12278 Howrah-Puri-Howrah Shatabdi Express; 12821/12822 Howrah-Puri-Howrah Dhauli Express and 58413/58414 Talcher-Puri-Talcher Passenger will remain cancelled between Bhubaneswar & Puri from both the directions on nominated days notified.

18303/18304 Sambalpur-Puri-Sambalpur Inter City Express and 58001/58002 Howrah-Puri-Santragachhi Passenger from 14th to 24th September, 2018, 17480/17479 Tirupati-Puri-Tirupati Express on nominated days will remain cancelled between Khurda Road & Puri from both the directions.

Apart from this, 58418/58417 Gunupur-Puri Passenger from 19th to 24th Sept, 2018 and 58417 Puri-Gunupur Passenger from 20th to 25th Sept, 2018 will remain cancelled for adjustment of connecting train services.
