Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to strengthen its position as a major player in electricity generation. After fulfilling the state’s power requirements, the surplus electricity is being sold through the Power Exchange, Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo informed the state assembly on Wednesday.
In a written reply to a question by Balasore MLA Manas Kumar Dutta, Minister Singh Deo highlighted that Odisha is committed to providing uninterrupted, round-the-clock electricity, especially in rural areas. To achieve this, the state government is actively implementing multiple schemes and enhancing electricity distribution infrastructure through the DISCOMs, utilising their own capital expenditure (CAPEX).
Further, the minister stated that proposals from the DISCOMs aimed at strengthening Odisha’s electricity distribution network are currently under review by the state government. Notably, infrastructure development projects worth Rs 14.29 crore have been proposed for the Balasore Assembly Constituency in the financial year 2025-26.
