**Bhubaneswar:** The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the State Crime Branch on Monday arrested one Pramod Kumar Jena on charges of fraud and forgery. Pramod, a resident of Jainla in Nahalapur of Cuttack district had availed a loan of Rs 3 lakh from Allahbad Bank by producing forged documents. He had impersonated as a Druaghtsman of State Government’s Drainage Division to get the loan.
An Establishment Officer posted at the Chief Engineer’s (Drainage) Office in Cuttack, Rabindra Kumar Jena had asssited Pramod to fabricate documents to certify his employment. The EOW acted on the complaint of Allahabad Bank’s Senior Manager Pranab Kumar Ray, who alleged that around 85 persons availed loans to the tune of Rs 2.26 crore between December 2009 and March 2010.
The loans were disbursed by Nayasarak Branch under Saral Loan scheme launched by the Nationalised Bank. So far, the EOW arrested 16 persons in this case, including Rabindra who has been convicted by the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate, Cuttack. Pramod on the other hand, was booked under Sections 419, 420, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code.
