Odisha: Ex-Husband Arrested In Jajpur School Teacher’s Murder Case

Jajpur: In the sensational murder of a school teacher who was hacked to death in broad daylight, her ex-husband was arrested today and has been forwarded to court.

A 32-year-old teacher, Jogamaya Jena, was killed on July 9 at Rachhipur Chowk under Jajpur Road police limits when she was returning from home. In the attack, her associate, Mohin Mohan Muduli (52) had also been grievously injured.

Three teams were formed to investigate. It was revealed that even though Jogmaya and her ex-husband Soumya Prakash Mallick had separated, things were still sour between them.

In a fit of rage, Soumya attacked Jogamaya using a sharp weapon “Katta’. He also assaulted Mohin with a severe cut injury.

The Jajpur police launched a probe and the next day (July 10) the accused was detained.  They also recovered the weapon of offence and other clinching evidence in the case.

Jajpur ASP Jayram Satapathi informed that Soumya has been arrested and forwarded to court on charges of killing his former wife and grievously injuring another. He has been forwarded to court. He added that injured Mohin is in a stable condition.
