Bhubaneswar: Odisha experienced the coldest day this winter with the Upper Baraha Kamuda (UBK) area in Similipal recording 0°C at 6.00 am on Thursday, while at least 13 places recorded minimum temperatures (night temperatures) of 10°C or below. Besides, 24 places in the state recorded minimum temperatures of below 15°C during the last 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said today.

While the weather remained cold and dry across Odisha, shallow to dense fog occurred in several places reducing visibility, thereby affecting normal life. According to the weather office, the minimum temperatures are likely to drop 1°C to 2°C further during the next two days under the influence of cold winds blowing from the north-northwest.

The places that recorded night temperatures of 10°C or below are Angul (8.0°C), Jharsuguda (9.0°C), Keonjhar (8.4°C), Bhawanipatna (9.0°C), Bolangir 10.0°C), Koraput 7.6°C), Phulbani (6.5°C), Sonepur (9.7°C), Nawarangpur (9.0°C), Rourkela (8.3°C), and Daringbadi (8.0°C).

The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded minimum temperatures of 12.4°C and 12.8°C respectively.
