Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Sunday extended the period for assessing crop damage due to unseasonal rains by a day. Similarly, the application period by farmers to claim assistance for crop damage has also been extended by another day, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi told the media today.
Addressing a press conference after surveying the areas affected by unseasonal rains and interacting with the affected farmers, the Chief Minister said, “Numerous farmers have suffered due to the unseasonal rains. The damage is immense and it has broken the backbone of our farmers. Hence, we want to give more time to the farmers to be able to claim compensation for their damaged crop,” Majhi said.
Now, the farmers can submit their crop compensation claims till December 31, instead of December 30.
