Odisha Feels Summer Heat In Early Feb As Mercury Crosses 30 Degrees C In 31 Places

Bhubaneswar: Several places in Odisha experienced summer heat in the eary parts of February as mercury level crossed 30 degrees C in 31 places across the State.

As many as 13 towns in the State recorded 33 degrees C maximum temperature in last 24 hours.

Paralakhemundi and Bhawanipatna recorded a maximum day temperature of 35 degrees C while maximum temperature in Titilagarh and Malkangari was 34.5 degrees Celsius. State Capital Bhubaneswar witnessed 34.4 while mercury soared to 33 degrees C in Cuttack.

The highest day temperature was recorded at 33.2 degree Celsius in Chandbali, 33.7 in Angul, 33.8 in Balangir, 33.5 in Sonpur, 33.1 in Bhadrak and 33.6 in Dhenkanal.

In Balasore, mercury level crossed 32 Degrees, while Baripada recorded 31 degrees, Sambalpur 32.1, Hirakud 32.4, Talcher 32.8, Phulbani 32.4, Boudh 32, Rayagada 32.8, Nuapada 32 and Nabarangpur 32.5 Degrees C.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the night temperature in coastal Odisha saw 2 to 5 degrees C above normal last night.  In interior Odisha, the night temperature increased by 3 to 7 degrees.

The weather department predicted no significant change in the night temperature in the state for the next three days.
