Bhubaneswar: The ETGovernment at the 3rd Edition of DigiTech Conclave 2022 – Celebrating India’s Digital Journey @75 on August 25, 2022 in New Delhi felicitated the Government of Odisha for Best Implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA).
Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and Sports & Youth Services Minister Tusarkanti Behera received the memento and were felicitated on behalf of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Speaking on the occasion Minister Nayak told that over the last 22 years after Patnaik became the Chief Minister, Odisha has made spectacular progress in various fields under his visionary leadership. The success story of Odisha in fields relating to food, livelihood, social security, disaster management, and more recently COVID handling has earned recognition & accolades from National and International bodies/sources including the U.N.O.
“Today’s Award is one more serious acknowledgment of the achievements of our State & its transformative, transformational journey, Odisha is now a food surplus State. It is a role model for Others. Odisha is also one of the top four rice surplus States of the Country,” told Nayak.
“Last month, our State Odisha has been ranked the No.1 performing State in the Country for 2022 by the Government of India for having created resilient food systems to optimize the benefits of the NFSA. Our Chief Minister has been consistently stressing upon affordable access of people to food and more significantly upon not allowing even a single person to remain hungry for want of food. The robust implementation strategy and measures as advised and devised by him have factored into vital elements like focus, linkage, delivery, expansion and inclusion as a result of which the inspirational districts particularly and also other pockets of the State are to benefit from the food security provisions.”
“Now, the Government of Odisha is embarking upon supply of fortified rice to the beneficiaries under PDS, PM-POSHAN, and SNP of ICDS in association with the Union Government of India. Normal rice grains are blended with Fortified Rice Granules containing Iron, Vitamin B12, and Folic Acid during the rice milling stage and processed as fortified rice which are being distributed to beneficiaries taking into issues of nutrition,” Nayak added.
