Odisha Fights COVID-19: Nayagarh Dist Admn Seals Border With Ganjam

Odagaon (Nayagarh): Apprehending further spread of COVID-19 infection in Nayagarh district with the movement of people to and from hotspot district-Ganjam, the district administration here today sealed its borders with Ganjam.

The Nayagarh district administration has sealed its borders with Ganjam at several places under the jurisdiction limits of Odagaon Adarsh Police Station.

Border with the neighbouring district has been sealed at Rohibanka, Maliajhola, and Sunamunhi amid heavy police deployment.

“Only vehicles connected with essential services are being allowed through these entry points after proper verification and checking by the police,” informed Sub Collector Lagnajit Rout.

Moreover, sarpanches have been asked to keep an eye on non-essential entry at the points where the border has been completely sealed, Rout added.

Earlier in the day, the Ganjam district administration sealed its border with the Khordha district.

As many as 215 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the Ganjam district out of the 527 total new positive cases detected in the State in the last 24 hours.

But amidst all the gloom, Ganjam also had the highest number of cured COVID-19 patients discharged today with 120 out of the total of 303 recuperated patients.

All urban areas of the district including Block headquarters are under shutdown from today till July 13 (Monday).

Shutdown for six days has been announced to ensure hassle-free movement of Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) in urban areas so that they can carry out screening and related activities effectively.
