Bhubaneswar: State Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera today prayed before Goddess Durga to grant wisdom to the Union leaders who are playing politics over the deaths caused due to very severe cyclonic storm 'Titli and subsequent floods.

The recent deaths due to landslide in Gajapati was a shock to the State government, which was alert 24/7 to assist the people affected during the natural calamity and take decision about providing them relief and rehabilation, said Behera.

While the Union leaders are playing politics over the State Government's 'zero casualty' claim, had anyone imagined about the announcement made by Odisha Government for the victims.

Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia has been announced for kin of those who died due to cyclone 'Titli' and its after effects and also provide pucca houses to all those who have lost their homes in the cyclone under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana.

Earlier in the day, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had visited the cyclone affected districts and talking to mediapersons in Ganjam had criticised the 'zero casualty' claim of Odisha Government.

He alleged the Odisha Government had not taken adequate measures for the safety of the people and there has been discrepancy in the distribution of relief materials.
